By all accounts, it sucked.

On July 25, Louis Tomlinson appeared on the podcast of Australian music presenter Smallzee’s Surgery. He reflected on the work of his popular, now-defunct group One Direction.

The day the show was recorded happened to be July 23, the date of One Direction’s formation. Louis responded with a scathing review of “Up All Night,” saying, “The group was formed 12 years ago today, but the first album was crap by any measure.

One Direction’s debut album “Up All Night,” released in 2011, sold 4.5 million copies worldwide and is best known for the smash hits “What Makes You Beautiful” and “One Thing.”

Louis adds, “There’s still pressure to put out a good album, and there’s also me coming out of a big group like One Direction and trying to adapt and gain confidence in a new place.”
