Johnny Depp taught Christina Ricci about homosexuality.
Actress Christina Ricci, 42, has been active in Hollywood since she was a child actress, known for her role as Wendesday in the “Addams Family” film series. She made her film debut in ” Mermaids,” in which she appeared when she was 9 years old at the time, and on the set of the film, Johnny Depp taught her the definition of homosexuality.
Appearing on the program “Andy Cohen Live” on the US radio station SiriusXM, Christina revealed, “Actually, Johnny Depp taught me what homosexuality was when I was 9 years old at the time.
According to Christina, during the filming of ” Mermaids” which was released in the U.S. in 1990, there was some kind of homophobic harassment on the set, “There was one time on the set where someone was being rude to another person. People around me were like, ‘Oh, maybe that guy is homophobic,’ but as for me, I was like, ‘What does that mean?'” she recalled on the show.
At the time, Christina’s co-star in the film was actor Winona Ryder, who was dating Johnny, and Christina was in Winona’s trailer when the behavior that appeared to stem from homophobia occurred. When she asked Winona what was going on at the time, “she was like, ‘How do I explain this?
So Winona asked for help from Johnny, who she was dating at the time. “She called Johnny and he took over the phone with me,” Christina said. She continued, “Johnny explained [homosexuality] to me.”
Johnny taught me about homosexuality in the “simplest of terms,” she said. “He told me, ‘It’s about a man wanting to have sex with a man, or a woman wanting to have sex with a woman. As for me, I was like, ‘Oh, yes, I understand,'” she recalled.
