Lewis Hamilton was unable to appear in “Top Gun Maverick” due to work commitments.

The movie “Top Gun Maverick” has been a huge hit worldwide, grossing over $1.2 billion at the global box office. In fact, there was talk that F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, a friend of Tom Cruise who stars in the film, would appear in the movie. However, due to work commitments, Lewis was unable to participate in the filming, so his appearance in the movie did not materialize after all. Lewis himself reflected on this in an interview with Vanity Fair.

I’m a friend of Tom’s. He’s one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Lewis, who talks about Tom, said that he had visited the set of “Edge of Tomorrow,” a movie in which Tom starred, at Tom’s invitation some years ago.

Glen Powell, who played the role of Hangman in “Top Gun Maverick,” has also stated that he was strongly influenced by the previous “Top Gun,” and Lewis also once dreamed of becoming a fighter pilot after watching “Top Gun,” and when he heard that a sequel was being made, he could not wait to get in touch with Tom. He revealed that he once dreamed of becoming a fighter pilot after watching “Top Gun.

So when I heard they were making a second film, I thought, ‘Oh my God! I had to ask him. (I contacted Tom) and said, ‘I don’t care what role you play. I’ll do anything, even cleaning. I told him, ‘I can be a background cleaner.'”

As it turned out, Lewis was offered the role of a pilot, not a janitor. Naturally, Lewis was eager to play the role, but when he learned that the filming schedule conflicted with the climax of the F1 season, he decided against it, saying, “I can’t participate in the filming without any preparation. I’m a perfectionist,” he said. (I’m a perfectionist. The phone call I made to Tom and Joseph Kosinski was the most upsetting phone call I’ve ever made,” he said.
