Orlando Bloom, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor, opened up about his past near-death experience and sent the message, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
Orlando Bloom opened up about a horrific ordeal in his past that took a toll on him mentally.
What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
In honor of World Mental Health Day on October 10, Orlando mentioned an accident he experienced as a teenager. When I was 19, I fell three stories out of a window and broke my back,” Orlando, an international goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, said in a video released by the organization on Instagram. “Luckily, my spinal cord was still intact, so I survived. I was told I might not walk again for the first four days,” Orlando continued.

Orlando also explained, “That was the beginning of a long and painful journey for me,” and revealed that he had several more accidents after that. The culmination was a broken spine, which was a near-death experience,” he continued.
Orlando underwent spinal surgery and was subsequently fitted with a brace. He admitted, “I think the months after the fall were pretty dark.” He commented, “For a guy like me who had always led an active life, all of a sudden I felt very restricted and in a lot of pain.” He candidly shared details of the tragic accident in an Instagram post last year, stating that he “narrowly escaped death.”
