Daniel Radcliffe on the hardest part of filming “Harry Potter.

Actor Daniel Radcliffe appeared in an interview with GQ. He played the main character Harry in the “Harry Potter” film series, and over the past 10 years he has worked with many famous actors such as Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, Gary Oldman, and Fiona Shaw. While the experience has been invaluable, there is one shoot he hopes he will never do again.

That was in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” the fourth film in the series. In this film, which featured a match between the three major wizarding schools, Harry took on a variety of challenges. One of them took place in the water, and the filming of this was very difficult.

He said, “There was some really intense and crazy stuff in ‘Potter.’ At the time, I was like, ‘Oh yeah. The crew is building a tank this time where Stage D was, and we’re going to shoot underwater for the next six weeks,’ and I didn’t think it was crazy. I kept a kind of log book to record my time underwater. It was a really good experience, and I was told that the average amount of footage that would become available from a day’s shooting was seven seconds worth. That said, this is one of those things that I think, “I’ll never do that again. If I did, I would be the only one who has done it before. I would be the only one who had that experience in the past, and I would look back and think, ‘Oh, that was something special. That was one of those moments.

The underwater challenges in the film took up a not-so-short amount of time, but it is mind-boggling that only seven seconds worth of footage can be shot in one day. While this is not an easy experience and a special memory for him, he said that he would not try it again. The water scene is one of the most difficult scenes for him to shoot, and he also talked about the water shoot he did for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

I think it was the sixth film, and we started shooting one scene in the water, and I was tied to a wire, and I had to hold the rope and submerge myself underwater. And when we started shooting, I let go of the rope and the crew pulled me up with a wire. Then I jumped out of the water, and there were flames surrounding me on the surface of the water. So I jumped out of the water in a circle of flames. It was very rare that the production team let me do that myself. And again, I don’t think there are any jobs out there that will let me do that.

He believes that the dangerous action sequences are too much for him and too much of a risk for the film crew to take. At that time, Daniel was at the most physically active age as a teenager, but he had become a star actor, so it must have been a hurdle for him, not a stunt double, to try filming a scene where he could get injured or, in the worst case, his life could be in danger. That is why it seems to have been a valuable experience.
