People with dwarfism don’t get everyday roles in dramas.

Actor George Coppen (26), whose drama “Willow” is still fresh in his mind, believes that the role should have gone to an actor like himself, since even just a few roles are offered to actors with dwarfism.

He first started thinking about the issue when James Nesbitt played the dwarf Bofur in the “Hobbit” series. George said in an interview with the BBC.

“A lot of actors [with dwarfism] feel like they’re being kicked out of the industry we love.””A lot of things, including me, argue that people with dwarfism should be given everyday roles in dramas and stuff, but those roles don’t come around.””One door gets closed, but they open the next door. They forget to open the next door.”

He then said he was shocked when he saw the trailer for “Wonka” and said, “They enlarged his (Hugh’s) head to make it look bigger. What did they do to him (I thought)?” he continued.

The new film’s director, Paul King, thought Hugh, who worked with him on “Paddington 2,” was perfect for the role because he is “the funniest and best cynic” in the film.
