Popular model Gigi Hadid (27) has announced that she is leaving Twitter following its acquisition by Elon Musk, bashing the social networking site as a “cesspool of hate and bigotry.
Not a place I would want to be.
Businessman Elon Musk, best known as CEO of Tesla Inc. On November 4, he reportedly told about 3,700 employees, or about half of his workforce, that they would be laid off via “e-mail” and other means.
Amid the mass layoffs, including those of the human rights team, model Gigi Hadid announced on Instagram on November 4 that she had suspended her Twitter account.
In the post, Gigi quoted a tweet from Shannon Raj Singh, a human rights advisor who was fired by the company. ‘I suspended my Twitter account today. For a long time, but with new leadership, it has become more and more a cesspool of hate and bigotry, and it is not a place I want to be,” she wrote.
Gigi also apologized to her fans for quitting Twitter and said she loved connecting with her fans on Twitter.
Finally, Gigi concluded, “I can’t say that it is a safe place anymore, nor a social networking site that does more good than harm.”
