Actor Alec Baldwin pleaded not guilty to an incident that occurred in the movie “Rust,” but was later sued by three members of the film’s crew, TMZ and other news outlets report.
Alec participated in the filming of the western movie “Rust” in October 2021.
While practicing handling a revolver, a single gunshot was fired, wounding director Joel Souza and killing cinematographer Halina Hutchins. The shooting was halted due to this incident.
Since then, Alec has pleaded not guilty and reached a settlement with the family, including Halina’s husband, but according to court documents newly obtained by TMZ, three crew members of “Rust” have now filed a lawsuit against Alec Baldwin and the film’s producers.
The three who filed the lawsuit claim that Halina suffered from anxiety and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder after she was shot and killed. The plaintiffs in the new lawsuit, including dolly operator Ross Adigo, set costumer Dolan Curtin, and key grip Reese Price, were on the set of a church at Bonanza Creek Ranch in New Mexico when Alec’s gun went off. And these three claim that they suffered “blast injuries” from the deafening sound of the firing because they were near Alec.
Alec himself has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
Filming on “Rust” will resume this spring, and according to a press release obtained by E!News, two safety officers from Tenet Production Safety have been added to the crew to ensure that there are zero “working weapons” or “ammunition in any form” on the set. Now live ammunition will be strictly prohibited on the set.
