Lily Rose Depp Reveals Why She Is Not Talking About Her Father Johnny Depp’s Trial

Lily Rose Depp, Johnny Depp’s beloved daughter, model and actor, revealed in an interview with ELLE why she is not speaking out about the trial of her father Johnny and his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Johnny, who has been in a legal battle with his ex-wife Amber over allegations of domestic violence, lost a defamation trial in the UK in 2020, but won a defamation trial in the US this June. His daughter Lily has remained silent since posting a comment on Instagram in defense of Johnny in 2016 (*this post has now been deleted), and has never commented on the two trials mentioned above.

I believe I am entitled to my own ‘secret garden’ when something so private and personal is suddenly not,” she said. I am not here to answer for anyone. As is usually the case in my career, people seem to want to define me by the men closest to me, like my family or my boyfriend. But I am properly prepared to be defined by what I send out,” she explained, feeling that she is not obligated to say anything.

Lily’s respect for privacy is due in no small part to the fact that her parents, Johnny and Vanessa Paradis, kept her and her younger brother out of the spotlight as much as possible while they were growing up. I grew up being taught that privacy is something that should be protected,” she said.

She also commented that “people on the Internet care more about who your family is than the people who cast you. Lilly kicked off the discussion by saying, “People on the Internet care more about who your family is than the people casting you. She added, “If someone’s father or mother is a doctor and their child becomes a doctor, no one says, ‘You became a doctor because your parents were doctors,’ right? And I think it is usually women (more than men) who are told that. I don’t think it’s a coincidence,” she complained.
