On June 1, after more than 12 hours of deliberation, Amber was ordered to pay $10.35 million and Johnny $2 million. Amber, however, appealed the verdict and sought a new trial.

The two lawyers had been in discussions to avoid a third trial, and they recently reached an agreement and struck a deal in which Amber’s insurance company will pay Johnny $1 million (about 130 million yen).

According to the British media “Daily Mail Online,” Amber considers this an important victory and reports that “Amber is free to speak out on this matter and there are no restrictions on her speech.

‘The important thing to remember is that it was not my choice. I defended my truth and in doing so my life was destroyed. The slander I faced on social media amplified the ways in which women can be victimized again by coming forward.”

‘Now I have the opportunity to finally be free from what I tried to leave more than six years ago on terms I am comfortable with. I am not admitting anything. This is not an act of concession. There are no restrictions or freedoms taken away from me in regards to my voice.”

Amber further emphasized her loss of faith in the American justice system, as her testimony was not protected and fell prey to entertainment and social media.

Amber stated that the trial drained her funds and humiliated her in a way she would never experience again, “I can’t have that happen again three times,” and asserted that “time is precious and I want to use it productively and with purpose.” He also explained that he “cannot afford to risk further impossible claims, not only financial, but also psychological, physical, and emotional.

Amber and Johnny’s battle has lasted six years. Amber remained bullish, and in the end, it appears that she settled the case as a victory. Incidentally, Johnny will donate the settlement to several charities.
