Last year, Johnny Depp painted and sold the first four portraits of Elizabeth Taylor, Bob Dylan, Al Pacino, and Keith Richards as part of this collection. This is the second installment of the collection.
About this collection, Castle Fine Art, the gallery selling the works, said, “Johnny’s debut collection of limited edition artwork focuses on the people he knows well and those who have inspired him, ‘Friends & Heroes II. The images are all about Johnny’s love of art and his love of the world. Each image is an intimate reflection of the character of that person in Johnny’s eyes and how they revealed themselves to him.

He added, “Each image is an intimate reflection of that person’s character in Johnny’s eyes and describes how they revealed themselves to him. With photographic references, each image is whittled down to a simpler, more symbolic depiction of the subject, which Johnny develops and enlivens with his signature freehand flourishes.”
Although Johnny is best known as an actor, art has always been a means of self-expression for him.
On the art gallery’s website, Johnny says, “I have always used art to express my feelings and to think about the people who are most important to me: my family, my friends, and the people I admire. My paintings surround my life, but I kept them to myself and limited myself. No one should limit themselves,” he writes of his passion for art.
Johnny’s current collection, signed by Johnny, is now available for sale for $21,000 (2,870,000 yen) for a set of four pieces, and when it was first released two weeks ago, it sold for $5,400 (730,000 yen) per piece, but all 780 prints have now been sold out.
