In her memoir Paris: The Memoir, Paris Hilton talks about her previously leaked sex tape.

In 2003, a sex tape of the then 19-year-old Paris Hilton was leaked, causing a furore.

The video was filmed by Rick Solomon, who she was dating around 2000. He leaked this tape without Paris’ permission.

In a part of her memoir obtained by USA Today, Paris has now referred to the row. He is said to have spoken candidly about the ‘strange and uncomfortable’ experience of making the video and the aftermath of the leak.

In the memoir, ‘I don’t remember that much about the night he tried to video us while we were making love’, Paris wrote, ‘If I don’t do it, it’s easy to find a woman to replace me. He told me. I thought I was a stupid girl who didn’t know how to play with adults and that this grown man was going to dump me”, she confessed her feelings at the time.

Paris also notes that she agreed to be videotaped because she was drinking and taking psychotropic drugs at the time and was also told that “no one would ever see it”.

However, after the break-up, the tape was leaked. Rick Solomon claimed at the time that the tape was his and that he was entitled to sell it and get monetary value from it.

Paris says of that time, ‘I thought my career was over’, and she also opens up about her family’s response.

‘My mother fell into bed and stayed there. My father was red-faced and furious. He made a lot of phone calls, called a lawyer, called an information operations expert and somehow tried to minimise the damage to me’, Paris recalled, and wrote of her brothers’ reaction at the time: ‘They thought it was very strange and hardly wanted to look at me’.

Paris’s memoir Paris: The Memoir will be released on 14 March.
