Oscar winner Lupita Nyongo turned heads on the red carpet at the Tony Awards 2023 on Sunday (June 11), local time, wearing an ultra-realistic silver breastplate molded from her own naked body.
Lupita wore a custom design by designer Misha Japanwala on the occasion.

Lupita described wearing the outfit as a “shameless out-of-body experience,” and also expressed her feelings on Instagram, saying she was “honored, humbled, strengthened, and energized.
He added, “Misha Japanwala is a Pakistani artist and fashion designer whose work is rooted in the rejection and deconstruction of the external shame attached to her body. In her artistic process, she creates a real and truthful record of the human body as an act of resistance and celebration, and as an assertion of being allowed to exist freely in our bodies,” she explained.
Misha Japanwala is also known for creating similar breastplates for Cardi B, Julia Fox, and Halsey.
While there were some praises about this lupita outfit, such as “phenomenal,” critical comments were also directed at it, such as “not very classy, very uncomfortable.
Misha Japanwala’s exhibition “Beghairati Ki Nishaani: Traces of Shamelessness” is on view at Hanna Traore Gallery in New York until July 30.
