Gaga, who co-stars with Joaquin Phoenix as Batman’s nemesis the Joker in the sequel to the hit movie “The Joker,” plays Harley Quinn, the Joker’s partner.

According to cinematographer Larry Sherr, Gaga was in character even when the cameras were not rolling and wanted to be called by her nickname “Lee,” which is Harley’s real name “Harleen.

On the podcast “The Trenchers TV,” Sher reveals that she had a hard time bonding with Gaga. “Even during the makeup hair test, it was as if she and I hadn’t met yet. For the next week or so, I felt like, ‘We’re disconnected, we’re not connected at all. I felt like we were in opposite directions.’ So my assistant director said to me one day, ‘You should call her “Lee” on the set, she’d be happy. I thought, ‘Yeah, that’s totally right. And I immediately called him Lee, literally, and everything changed. From that moment on, it was like our connection changed. I understood, ‘Okay, I should have known this.'”

Meanwhile, Joaquin, who won the 92nd Academy Award for Best Actor for his previous film, is known for staying in character during filming, and on the second day of shooting he said to Sher, “I need to get into the role, and I’m sorry if I’m acting weird.
