Miles Teller, who plays Rooster in the film “Top Gun Maverick,” has “talked” with star Tom Cruise about a third film.

Miles Teller, who plays Rooster, the son of Crying Goose in “Top Gun Maverick,” the 36-year-old sequel to the film “Top Gun,” revealed in an interview with ET that he and Tom Cruise talked about the third film.
Since co-starring in “Top Gun Maverick,” Miles has admired Tom as an actor and a senior in life, and has kept in touch with him regularly after the film ended. He says he loves filmmaking and can spend hours on the phone talking about it, and that sometimes an hour or two would pass as they talked about the film industry, and Miles would have to hang up the phone.
When asked by an ET interviewer about the possibility of a third film in the “Top Gun” series, Miles said, “It would be great [if a sequel could be made], but it’s up to Tom Cruise. It all depends on Tom,” he said. “I’ve talked to Tom several times about a sequel. I don’t know,” and he admitted that he and Tom have talked about a third film, whether it will be produced or not.
It is not clear whether the conversation was positive or not, but for fans of the “Top Gun” series, that alone is good news. Perhaps Miles is right and it is “up to Tom” to decide if a third film will be made, but who knows?
Incidentally, Miles, who recently sent a message on Tom’s birthday (July 3), said, “It’s been a wild ride because Tom shared ‘Top Gun’ with me and other young actors. And it continues to this day.” He also expressed his gratitude to Tom.
