They cursed me out.

Austin recalled his first visit to RCA Studio B in Nashville, Tennessee, where director Baz Luhrmann brought all the executives from the film company to the recording studio to make the performance as close to Elvis Presley as possible. He told VMAN magazine, “I said, ‘Everybody sit down facing Austin,’ and [the director] told them to curse at me.” So they made fun of me while I was singing.”

But later, Austin said, “When I was filming this moment when Elvis first went on stage and the audience was cursing him, I knew what it felt like,” and he realized that director Luhrmann’s crazy methods were necessary to make the film. I went home crying. I really cried,” he recalled. Because, Austin recalled, he thought the recording sessions were supposed to be relaxed and playful, but when he went to them, he found them “painful.

Elvis” is the true story of Elvis Presley, who set many legends in motion as the world’s best-selling solo artist. Austin’s performance is like Elvis’s, with his overwhelming vocal ability and even his casual movements.
