Amber Heard’s sister complained about Johnny Depp’s “return” to TV by appearing at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Amber Heard’s sister protests MTV’s decision to let Johnny Depp appear on the show.
Actor Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMAs) on August 28 (local time) dressed as the iconic Moon Person. Appearing at the event by using digital technology to project his face inside a helmet, Johnny said, “Well, I needed a job,” he said, “Birthday, bar mitzvah, bat mitzvah, wedding, whatever you need. Anything. Oh, and I’m also a dentist,” he joked self-deprecatingly, drawing laughter from the audience.
Johnny had been sidelined from Hollywood for some time due to a protracted legal battle with his ex-wife, Amber Heard, but the tide turned this June when he won a lawsuit against Amber for defamation of character. The MTV VMA appearance was a big step for Johnny to make a comeback, and fans responded well, but it was Amber’s sister, Whitney Henriques, who expressed her displeasure with it.
Whitney, who appeared as a witness for Amber’s side in both the UK and US trials and has continued to support her, posted a message on her Instagram story after the MTV VMAs aired, saying, “I am on Amber Heard’s side.
She also made fun of “VMA” by changing it to “DVMA,” which alludes to “domestic violence,” and added, “Dear MTV. You guys are very offensive and obviously desperate (for buzz). (I sincerely hope that the people who offered (Johnny) the role don’t have daughters,” he said in a scathing criticism of MTV for using Johnny. In fact, while there were many favorable opinions about Johnny’s appearance at the MTV VMAs, there were also some who questioned it.
Incidentally, People asked Johnny, Amber, and MTV, the host of the VMAs, for their comments, but they did not receive a response by the deadline.
