Caleb McLaughlin, 20, who plays Lucas in the popular Netflix drama “Stranger Things,” has confessed to racist behavior by fans of the series.
Caleb McLaughlin appeared at the Heroes Comic Con in Brussels, Germany, on September 25. There, Caleb recalled his first time on stage at Comic-Con and said, “Some people wouldn’t get in line for me because I was black. I was young, so I was pretty hurt.” He confessed that he had been racially discriminated against in the past.

There were also people who wouldn’t wait in line because I [Lucas] was mean to Eleven [Millie Bobby Brown],” he said.

Caleb also complained about the lack of support he receives on social media. He asked, “Why am I the least popular character? Why do I have the fewest followers in the cast? I’ve been on the same drama series as everyone else since season 1,” he said, questioning the difference in popularity on social networking sites.
Caleb’s Instagram followers are currently 15.4 million. In comparison, Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven, has 58.5 million followers, Noah Schnapp, who plays Will, has 27.6 million, and Win Wolfhard, who plays Mike, has 26.3 million. Gayten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin, has a slightly lower number of followers, 18.7 million, but still 3 million more than Caleb.
Caleb also revealed that he receives generous support from his parents. My parents are like, ‘It’s a sad truth, but you’re that black kid on the show,'” he said. I was like, ‘How crazy is that?
Despite the racism, Caleb says he remains positive. I was born with this beautiful chocolate skin, and that’s why people don’t love me,” he said. But that’s why I want to spread positivity and love. I don’t want to give back to anyone the hatred I received.
