A long text message that actor Angelina Jolie allegedly sent to her ex-husband Brad Pitt has been spreading on TikTok and has become a topic of conversation. The message begins with the words, “I’m putting this in writing so I don’t get emotional,” and details her decision to sell Chateau Miraval, a winery in southern France that the two co-own.

The two purchased a controlling interest in Chateau Miraval in 2008, with Brad paying 60% of the costs and Angelina 40%, and were married there in 2014. According to Brad, he and Angelina had agreed not to sell either the mansion or the vineyards on the property without the other’s consent. However, last October, Brad filed a lawsuit against Angelina for selling Nouvelle, a company she had set up for her wine business, to a third party without Brad’s permission.

The email, which Angelina sent to Brad in January 2021 before she sold her shares, was found in court documents, according to US ET.

‘That’s where I brought the twins [Vivienne and Knox] and where we were married on a plaque* in my mother’s memory. It was a place of possibilities and I knew I would grow old there. I still can’t write about it without tears; I will always cherish those memories from 10 years ago. But it is also the place where the end of our family began, and where the alcohol-centered business is conducted. I had hoped that it would hold us together and help us find light and peace. I see now that you really wanted to get rid of me. You will probably be glad to receive this email.”

*Angelina herself later revealed in an interview with People in the US that Brad had engraved a special message in honor of Angelina’s late mother in the chapel of Chateau Miraval prior to the wedding.

Angelina later told People in an interview that she had seen Brad’s “inconsiderate behavior over the past four years, spending money in ways she did not approve of, and making decisions without consulting her,” and that he “had no desire to share his business with me or to radically change it for the health of our children. I was hurt by decisions that showed no desire to share the business with me or to make fundamental changes for the health of my children,” she said. It is irresponsible and not something I want my children to see. I remember when I was suffering. Alcoholism has taken a great toll on our family. So I cannot be involved in any alcohol based business, publicly or privately.”

As many of you know, Brad was reportedly intoxicated when the “plane incident” that led to Angelina and Brad’s divorce occurred in 2016. Angelina claims that Brad was violent toward her and the children at the time. Brad denies Angelina’s allegations, but admits that he had an alcohol problem and later overcame his addiction through treatment.

Angelina proposed “two options” for the winery business.

For the above reasons, Angelina has proposed two options to Brad for the winery business, stating that “there is nothing more I can do, either morally or for my family.

One is to “sell the company outright and walk away from this painful and painful chapter of my life. And the other is to “have you (Brad), the Perrin family (co-owners of the winery), or your associates buy out your full share of my property and business.” Angelina states that one of these two options is the only option, “Either way, I think we need to move forward in healing and focus on bringing the family together and having a positive relationship. To that end, we should act quickly,” she wrote.

She continued, “Words cannot express how upset I am that this has come to this point. It has made me keenly aware that your dreams for your business related to alcohol are your own. I wish you success in your business. And I sincerely hope that when your children grow up and visit you in Miraval, they will have a different impression of Miraval. But for me Miraval died in September 2016*. Everything I have seen since then sadly confirms it,” she stated, adding that he hoped to hear back within two weeks and concluding his email by signing it, “Regretfully, Angie.”

*Angelina and Brad filed for divorce in September 2016. The plane incident, for example, also occurred that same month.

Angelina and Brad are already in the doldrums, with a court case over custody of the children and a trial over winery rights, but the battle is intensifying, with Angelina recently filing documents with the court alleging domestic violence from Brad.
