Elon Musk acquired Twitter in late October. The contents of the first email he sent to Twitter employees after the acquisition have been revealed.
Twitter likely won’t survive the coming economic downturn.
According to Business Insider, Elon Musk sent his first email to employees since the acquisition at 2:39 a.m. Eastern time on November 9, 2011. At the beginning of the email, Elon writes, “Sorry this is my first email to the entire company, but I can’t speak in ostracism,” and goes on to write about the company’s future moves.
In the email, Elon notified the employees that they will no longer be allowed to work remotely and will have to come to work at least 40 hours a week unless they get approval to work outside the office.
He also writes that the company, which is currently facing a financial crisis, will need to derive “approximately half” of its profits from its paid “approval badge” subscriptions to get through this situation.

We need roughly half of our revenue to come from subscriptions.”
Employees also noticed that the company’s Days of Rest, implemented by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, had been removed from the calendar since Elon’s acquisition.
Elon acquired Twitter in late October for $44 billion (about $6.47 trillion). After that, the company reportedly laid off 3,700 employees, or about half of its workforce, via “email.
