From Disney’s latest film, The Little Mermaid, which opens in the US on Friday 26 May, a special film has been released in which the gorgeous cast and creators involved in the film talk about their overflowing passion for the film.
Director Rob Marshall and Lin-Manuel Miranda praise Harry Bailey’s singing voice.
The Walt Disney Company, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2023, has released a live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, the 1991 (released in the US in 1989) animated classic that led to the birth of Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast. Finally, it was made into a live-action film! The film will be released in the US on 26 May (Friday) with the best staff and cast from the Disney legacy.
This time, a new special film from the film has been released. The film starts with a scene in which Harry Bailey, who was chosen to play the role of Ariel, expresses his love for the film, saying: ‘The moment I saw the animated version, my world changed. The image of Ariel swimming freely in the mysterious sea is impressive, but as Harry says, “We all longed to be a mermaid”, the character of Ariel, who darts out into the outside world as she feels, has always shone as a character who gives courage and hope to all who watch her. The character of Ariel has always been a source of courage and hope for all who have seen her. This life-sized Ariel story is beautifully brought to life by Rob Marshall, director of Chicago, which won six Academy Awards®!
As the director describes it, the story in this film delivers the same positive message as the animated version: “It’s a story that touches the heart. Despite being forbidden by law, Ariel approaches the human world one day and saves Prince Eric from a storm. This fateful encounter made her unable to hold back her feelings, and she ventures out into the human world in exchange for her precious voice – and she is now a human being. In the film, Ariel swims freely with dolphins in the colourful sea, plays with glowing jellyfish in beautiful scenes, and makes a terrifying pact with the villain Eartha in a dubious scene. The film is filled with heightened anticipation for the drama that awaits Ariel. Melissa McCarthy, who plays Eartha, says: “The world the director has created is beyond imagination. It’s like magic!
Ariel’s powerful story is accompanied by gems of musical numbers, including ‘Part of Your World’ and ‘Under the Sea’. The film is also attracting attention for the participation of Disney music maestro Alan Menken, who continues his participation from the animated version, and up-and-coming genius Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is remarkably active on Broadway and also wrote the music for Moana and the Legendary Sea and Mirabelle and the House Full of Magic.
Speaking about the musicality of the film, Alan expresses confidence, saying that “our songs expanded the world of the film”. Lin also says: “I’m honoured [to be part of this film]. This film is very special to me”. Expect to hear new songs from this miraculous collaboration! In the film, Lynne also shows Harry, who was instantly captivated the moment he first heard her singing voice: “It’s a real voice! The film also includes a scene of Harry singing, which Lynne was instantly captivated by the moment she heard his voice for the first time, saying, “That’s a real singing voice! The film also includes a scene of Harry’s singing, in which Lynne was instantly captivated by his voice the moment she heard it for the first time: “That’s a real singer!
