The Na’vi, the indigenous people of the satellite Pandora, who are at the core of the story of the “Avatar” series, are characterized by their beautiful blue bodies.
Although the world is filled with many different colors, why did the Na’vi turn blue? Director James Cameron revealed the reason to Empire.
Director Cameron also considered colors such as green, yellow, and pink, but avoided using them because they each had images of famous characters, etc. “As for the color, green was taken. There was a long history of green aliens. And there is also the Hulk. And pink and brown, which are human colors, are not alien-like. SpongeBob was yellow. Then you are left with blue and purple. Purple is my favorite color, but I did that to use it as the main color for bioluminescence,” he said.

But this was not the only reason for making the Na’vi blue.
The image of the woman in his mother’s dream
The choice of blue for the Na’vi was also related to a woman who appeared in his mother’s dreams. Director Cameron apparently heard about the woman from his mother and said, “In her dream, she saw a blue woman who was 10 feet tall (3 meters) and had six breasts. That’s a cool image. I drew her, but I couldn’t draw her with six breasts as good as it sounds. Plus, it would affect the (age) rating of the film. So, anyway, I want to make it blue,” he also revealed.
