Crown Princess Catherine has been given a new title by King Charles.

The Evening Standard, a British media outlet, reported on December 22 (local time) that Crown Princess Catherine has taken over Prince William’s position as Colonel of the Irish Guards, a regiment of infantry in the Kingsguard. Buckingham Palace made the official announcement, the report said.

Prince William, who has retired from the position of colonel, will succeed his father, King Charles, to the title of colonel of the Welsh Guards, a regiment of the Kingsguard infantry.

Crown Princess Catherine was given the new title by King Charles. According to an announcement by Buckingham Palace, the Crown Princess has been appointed Colonel of the Irish Guards, taking over Prince William’s position. The palace recently announced that the king’s official birthday, “Trooping the Colour,” will be held on June 17 next year.

According to the Palace, three members of the royal family, including Queen Consort Camilla, who has been appointed colonel of the Grenadier Guards, a regiment of the Kings Guard Infantry (Foot Guards), will be appointed colonels of the Grenadier Guards.

The title of Colonel of the Grenadier Guards was formerly given to Prince Andrew. However, the position has remained vacant since the prince was stripped of his military and other titles in January of this year. The position of colonel of the other regiments in the British Imperial Guard Division will not be changed.

Buckingham Palace recently announced that the “Trooping the Colour” commemoration of King Charles’ official birthday will be held on June 17, 2023. The King’s coronation will be held at Westminster Abbey in London on May 6, a few weeks before the ceremony.

King Charles’ birthday is November 14, which he will celebrate with his family. That is why the “Trooping the Colors” celebration is held every year in England as the official birthday of the monarch.

The ceremony, a tradition that has continued for more than 260 years, features a parade of more than 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses, and a 400-member military band. The parade will travel from Buckingham Palace through The Mull, arriving at a square called “Horse Guards Parade,” before returning to the palace along the same route.

The King and Prince William will join the parade on horseback during the celebrations, which will be the first for King Charles since his accession to the throne.

Afterwards, the King and other members of the royal family will be on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the flypast by the Royal Air Force, as is customary.
