Musician Tory Lanez has been found guilty of shooting at popular female rapper Meghan Thee Stallion, Variety reports.
Tory had denied the charge.
Tory Lanez, a musician, was charged in 2020 for allegedly shooting rapper Meghan Thee Stallion, with whom he was dating at the time, in the leg, but Tory denied the charge.
The trial began in early December, and on Friday, December 23, he was convicted on three felony counts.
Tolley was found guilty of “assault with a semiautomatic firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.”
According to Variety, Tolley faces 22 years in prison and possible deportation to Canada as a result of this sentence.
Megan herself also took the stand on Tuesday, December 13. Tolley, on the other hand, was unable to produce any witnesses to prove his allegations.
Tolley and his lawyers have yet to comment on the verdict; The New York Times reports that Tolley, who was taken into custody on Friday, December 23, is scheduled to be sentenced on January 27.
The shooting of Megan occurred in July 2020. She and Trey came to a party at a friend’s house.
After the party, Megan was on her way home in his car with several friends, including Trey, when an argument with Trey escalated in the car. Megan got out of the car in anger, and Trey allegedly shot her from the back seat. Megan’s life was not in serious condition, but she had to undergo surgery at the hospital.
For a while after the incident, Megan did not say who the shooter was, but shortly afterwards she accused Tolley of being the shooter. Tory was later arrested for having a gun hidden in his car.
