Avatar: The Way of Water,” the latest sequel to the 2009 blockbuster “Avatar,” opened in theaters on Friday, December 16.

Actress Kate Winslet, who appears in the film, recently spoke to “USA Today” about the unprecedented record she set during the filming of the movie, and the big-name actor who had been at the top of her game.

Avatar: The Way of Water” is set in the ocean. The majority of the filming also took place underwater.

Kate had set an extraordinary record by holding her breath underwater for 7 minutes and 14 minutes during the filming of such a movie.

The last person to hold his breath for such a long period of time was Tom Cruise, known for his “Mission: Impossible” spy movie series. He successfully filmed himself holding his breath underwater for six minutes in 2015’s Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation.

Kate said she has never met Tom in person. However, in an interview, Kate reflected on Tom’s feelings about having his record broken.

I don’t know Tom at all, I’ve never met him in my life. I don’t know Tom at all, but I’ve never met him in my life… But I think he’s going to hear a lot of news about me breaking the record, and I think he’s going to be sick of it,” she continued.

I am simply happy that I was able to set a record. I didn’t think I was that good at holding my breath, and I didn’t think I could be this good at it,” she said, expressing surprise that her “breath-holding skills” were beyond her expectations.
