Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, was released on Tuesday, January 10. In it, he is said to have referred to the scandal of Prince Andrew, King Charles’ brother and his own uncle.
Prince Harry seems to have no intention of defending any of his relatives.
Speaking of Prince Andrew, he was sued by a woman who said she was sexually assaulted in 2021. The woman claimed that she was sexually assaulted by Prince Andrew on multiple occasions that same year, when she was 17 years old, at the behest of millionaire Jeffrey Epstein. The case itself was settled last year.
In addition, Jeffrey Epstein had been arrested for meddling in sex trafficking, but committed suicide in 2019 while in custody.
And since the scandal became public, Prince Andrew has stepped down from all duties related to the royal family.
In his book, Prince Harry refers to his removal from the royal guard when he leaves the royal family in 2020, describing Prince Andrew’s scandal as “embarrassing,” saying that “no one wanted to remove his security despite the embarrassing scandal of his sexual abuse of a young woman. He then objected to his own security being removed.
Prince Harry added, “People may have a lot of grievances against us, but they don’t include sex crimes as a reason.”
Prince Harry also claimed that he did not expect to be removed from his security detail, considering his mother, Princess Diana, who was killed in a car accident while being chased by paparazzi.
He went on to say that being removed from his guard by his father, King Charles, was like being fired without compensation, even though he had devoted his life to public service.
