On Sunday 12 March local time, South African rapper Konstantinos Tsvobanoglou, known as ‘Costa Titch’, collapsed and died suddenly during a performance at the Ultra South Africa music festival, aged 28.

A video has been posted online showing Costa Titch suddenly collapsing on stage during his performance and being lifted up by a person near him.

Following the news of his death, Costa Titch’s family updated his Instagram. ‘We feel deep pain at having to accept his death at this time,’ they wrote, adding, ‘Thank you to the emergency services and all those who were present during his final moments.’ In the post, the cause of Costa’s death was not revealed.

The organisers of Ultra South Africa also issued a statement.

In it, the organisers said they were ‘devastated’ by Costa’s death, adding that ‘Costa was a vibrant presence in the South African ampiano genre and as a talented rapper, dancer, singer/songwriter and a familiar companion at the festival’. He states.

Costa was born in Nelspruit in north-eastern South Africa and was already well known as a dancer before becoming a rapper.

His song ‘Big Flexa’ became a hit, especially on TikTok, and has catapulted Costa to stardom across Africa.
