After the game, Arsenal’s England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was attacked by Tottenham supporters.

Arsenal took the lead in the 14th minute when England midfielder Bukayo Saka’s shot deflected in for an own goal, and in the 36th minute Norway midfielder Martin Udegård found the net with a powerful left-foot shot. In the second half, Tottenham began to fight back, but were unable to score until the very end. The game went to time.

However, a bad incident occurred right after the final whistle.

When Ramsdale tried to collect a squeeze bottle he had left next to the goal, he was kicked by a supporter who ran out from behind the Tottenham goal.

After the game, Ramsdale said in an interview with Sky Sports, “The Spurs fans did something to me and I gave a little something back. A lot of them had good sportsmanship and were decent about it. But someone jumped me in the back,” he explained the situation. This is just a soccer game. It’s a shame,” he continued, explaining his feelings.

The players from both teams were trying to take me with them, and there was a skirmish. Fortunately it didn’t end badly. But I think when we go back to the dressing room we can be happy about today’s victory.

In response to the incident, Tottenham released a statement via the club’s official website. We are appalled by the actions of the supporter who attempted to attack Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale after today’s game. Violence in any form has no place in soccer. The Club will review the CCTV footage to identify this supporter and will take the strongest possible action with the police, Arsenal and Aaron Ramsdale. Those measures will include a ban from entering Tottenham Hotspur Stadium,” he said.

The Premier League also said, “We condemn the actions of the fans that took place at the end of tonight’s Tottenham vs. Arsenal game. There is no room for violence in soccer and under no circumstances should players be attacked or their safety threatened during a match. The League will support the clubs and the authorities concerned and will take the strongest possible action against the perpetrators. The English Football Association (FA) also issued a statement of condemnation, and the Professional Footballers Association (PFA), the English trade union whose membership includes professional footballers, had the following to say: “Violence against players will not be tolerated.

Violence against players is absolutely unacceptable. Similar incidents have occurred frequently in the recent past. Players have the right to be safe at work on the pitch. We expect laws and regulations to be properly enforced to protect players when their safety is threatened.

As a players’ union, we are treating this issue as a priority. We will continue to work with the authorities to demand that players and staff are properly protected in the workplace.”
