There is a possibility that Queen Consort Camilla will be given the title of “Queen.

King Charles acceded to the throne upon the death of Queen Elizabeth II last September. His wife, Queen Consort Camilla, was given the title of “Queen Consort” in accordance with the wishes of Queen Elizabeth before her death.

The Daily Mail reports that this title may be changed at King Charles’ coronation ceremony to be held on May 6 this year.

Princess Camilla married then Prince Charles in 2005. In consideration of his ex-wife, the late Princess Diana, she was called “Lady” the Duchess of Cornwall.

Therefore, it had been assumed that her title would remain “Queen’s wife” after King Charles ascended to the throne, but in February 2022, Queen Elizabeth issued a statement officially indicating to the public that her title would be “Queen.

At the time, Queen Elizabeth said, “When the fullness of time comes and my son Charles becomes King, I know that you will give him and his wife the same support that you have given me. And when that time comes, I sincerely hope that Camilla will be called ‘Queen Consort’ so that she may continue her faithful service.

Last week, however, the name of Queen Camilla’s charity was changed from “Duchess of Cornwall’s Reading Room” to “Queen’s Reading Room.

A source said of the change, “There is an opinion within the British Royal Family that ‘Queen Consort’ could be confusing and that it would be simpler for Queen Camilla to be known as ‘The Queen’ when the time comes.
