The Mission: Impossible series is a worldwide hit that follows the exploits of the main character Ethan Hunt and the team led by him in the IMF spy organisation played by Tom Cruise. The seventh film, Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One, is set to be released on 21 July 2023 (Friday).
The eighth and final film remains a mystery, but like the previous films, it is being filmed on locations around the world.
In a new Instagram post, McCurry reported that the eighth Mission: Impossible film has finished shooting in Svalbard. The director’s caption expresses mixed feelings about the many challenges of filming on location in the Arctic Circle.
‘Over the last three years of filming around the world, this crew has faced no small number of extremes. It was more beautiful than cruel, more majestic than intimidating, more soothing than cold, more fragile than freezing, and full of incomprehensible contradictions. We came to battle with our environment, but soon found ourselves tempted and surrendering. We did what the environment told us to do and got more than we expected. It may not be for the faint of heart, but for as long as you can remember, it is a place that will change you forever. You can’t beat the North Pole. The North Pole is letting us win. On behalf of the Mission: Impossible team, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
One of the highlights of the series is Tom Cruise’s stunts, which have become more shocking with each series, constantly surprising the viewer and reaching the highest level of danger in history. In the previously released footage from Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) on a motorbike goes full speed ahead towards a cliff in Møre Ø Romsdal, in the northernmost part of the Västran region of Norway, Without slowing down, he makes a huge jump and falls headlong, in an action sequence never seen before.
