Fans have expressed their anger at a ‘Starbucks’ billboard that made Taylor Swift’s break-up a story.

Recently, global singer Taylor Swift ended her six-year relationship with actor Joe Alwyn.

While fans are still reeling from the sudden event, major coffee chain Starbucks has set the internet ablaze with a menu sign that seems to make fun of the news.

The sign was installed by one Starbucks shop on its own. It reads, ‘Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend, which type are you?’ and lists the names of men who have reportedly been romantically involved with Taylor.

The nine names listed as options are Harry Styles, Joe Jonas, Tom Hiddleston, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Calvin Harris and Joe Alwyn. Under each name is the name of a drink served at Starbucks, such as ‘Hot Vanilla Latte’ or ‘Decaf American’.

One Taylor fan criticised Starbucks for this when he posted the sign on Twitter with the comment “This shop has bad taste”. The shop’s true intentions are a mystery, but perhaps they wanted to boost sales by writing about Taylor’s ex-boyfriends and the drinks that match them. Either way, it is clear that they took advantage of Taylor’s break-up.

On social networking sites, people have been asking, “Where is this restaurant? (I only want to give it one star (by word of mouth)”, “Where is this place! I’m going to go kick it over right now’, ‘When was the last time you teased a woman who just ended a six-year relationship about her love life? I thought this kind of approach wouldn’t work anymore, but it’s just sad”.

In response to these comments, Starbucks updated its official Twitter page. ‘Thank you for pointing this out. This is clearly against our mission and values. This sign has been removed from our shops”.
