Victoria Justice dismisses Ariana Grande’s disagreement with her.

Victoria Justice, who played the main character Tori Vega in the popular drama series Victorious, which aired on Nickelodeon from 2010 to 2013, has brushed off long-standing whispers that she and Ariana Grande, who played Cat Valentine, did not get along, calling them “stupid”.

Asked about rumours about herself in an interview with E! News, Victoria touched on the rumours of her own feud with Ariana, saying, “I think the biggest rumour… is that a story was created that I’m jealous of Ariana and we’re not friends. The media and the public are quick to want to put someone against someone else”, he continued, recalling when the feud reignited in 2017.

The trigger was an interview in 2010. In an interview conducted with several members of the cast of Victorious, Elizabeth Gillies, who played Jade West, praised Ariana’s singing ability, saying “Ariana sings everything”, to which Victoria replied “We all sing”, which was taken as sarcasm towards Ariana. In 2017, Victoria and Ariana’s disagreement came back into the spotlight when a video of that incident buzzed as a meme* on social media, but according to Victoria, the two were dismayed together behind the scenes and “Ariana texted me, they were both like, ‘Really. It was like, ‘This is ridiculous’,” she revealed.

Incidentally, this is not the first time Victoria has referred to her and Ariana’s disagreement: in 2021, she denied long-standing rumours on the podcast Chicks in the Office, and also revealed that she and Ariana are rather close and still keep in touch.

‘Sam & Cat’ Sam’s character confesses that he ‘didn’t like’ Ariana.

Meanwhile, Jennette McCurdy, who double-starred with Ariana in the iCarly and Victorious crossover spin-off drama Sam & Cat, wrote in her memoir I’m Glad My, published last year, that she came to dislike Ariana because of the difference in treatment Mom Died’.

According to Jennette, Ariana was allowed to work outside of the drama, but Jennette was not, and as well as resenting the fact that she was not allowed to leave the studio while Ariana took time off from filming the drama to do her music, “I was angry at Ariana, I was angry at her and jealous,” the memoir states.

Jennette, who at the time was repeatedly comparing her career to Ariana’s and feeling depressed, ‘broke down’ when Ariana arrived on the set whistling happily, having had a good time at actor Tom Hanks’ house the previous night. From that moment on, Jennette “didn’t like and didn’t like Ariana” and “felt personally attacked every time she missed work. Every time something pleasant happened to her, I felt as if the experience was being taken away from her”, and she wrote nakedly about her growing dislike of Ariana out of jealousy.
