Will’s sexuality has been the focus of much attention.

The Netflix drama “Stranger Things,” which has just begun streaming its fourth and final season, has gradually revealed Eleven’s past and the secrets of the world behind the scenes, but Will’s sexuality, played by Noah Schnapp, has also been attracting attention.

Will’s sexuality may have been revealed in a scene in season 3 when Will and Mike get into a fight and an angry Mike says, “It’s not my fault you don’t like girls! (It’s not my fault you don’t like girls!)” This scene was expected to suggest that perhaps Will is gay, but many viewers felt that the scene depicted Will’s desire to play as the foursome that had been close since childhood, and Mike’s adolescent growth now that he had a girlfriend. Executive producer Shawn Levy also stated in an interview with U.S. EW, “That was not a reference to sexual orientation.

However, in the first episode of season 4, when Will was given a presentation on a historical hero at his new high school, he chose Alan Turing, a British mathematician, cryptographer, and gay man who was arrested in 1952, which brought Will’s sexuality back into focus. Will’s sexuality was once again the focus of attention.

Noah Schnapp declares that Will is gay.

When Vol. 1 of Season 4 was released, the staff and cast did not speak out on this topic, but with the release of Vol. 2, Noah finally opened up. And he told us that Will is gay and that he likes Mike! He said in an interview with Variety.

‘There were hints in Season 1. I think there always were. But does this mean he’s just growing up slower than his friends? I didn’t really know. But now he has grown up and the staff has made it very real and obvious. It is 100% clear that he is gay and likes Mike. But until then, it was a slow process. I think it turned out very nicely. Because it’s easy to make a character suddenly gay.

When I was in Paris, a man of about 40 years old came to me and said, “Wow. I have a very good feeling about this character Will. And I can really relate to him. It’s really like when I was a kid. I was really happy to hear that. The crew has written this real character, real journey, real suffering, and they’re doing it really well.”

Although neither Will nor Will’s brother, Jonathan, used the word gay in the play, Will’s sexuality was almost became clear. According to Noah, the scene in which Jonathan hugs Will was added later during filming.

That scene wasn’t in the script originally,” Noah said. Until the crew saw me crying in the car and Jonathan’s protective affection as he watched through the rearview mirror. The crew was like, we need a scene about this. So I wrote that scene during the shoot.

It is very important for the viewer to see that Will is not alone. Until then, all we were seeing was Will suffering, depressed, and unable to be himself. Jonathan spoke without stating it explicitly. It’s a perfect way to tell someone like Will that Jonathan cares about him and will accept him no matter what. I think that was very healthy.”

While there are more and more characters in stories who are aware of their homosexuality from the beginning, the ability to portray how they gradually come to understand their sexuality is probably because “Stranger Things” featured young children in Season 1 and has continued since 2016.
