Rapper Post Malone, who has announced the release of his long-awaited new album Austin in July, delighted fans by “swapping” his own sneakers for a pair customised by a fan.
During a meet-and-greet with fans after the concert, a female fan brought a pair of sneakers that she had customised for Post. The sneakers were the white high-cut Converse trainers that Post always wears on stage, with a butterfly illustration on the side reminiscent of the design on the cover of Post’s album Twelve Carat Toothache. Note that the illustration was drawn by this female fan.
As soon as Post saw the trainers the female fan was holding in her hand, she exclaimed, “That’s cool”. When the female fan told him that she had brought them for him, he replied: ‘You brought these for me? You’re the best. Thank you so much” and accepted the box containing the trainers.
He went on to reveal that he had been aware that she was going to give him the sneakers since he was performing on stage, but that he could not accept them because he felt bad in case he got them dirty on stage and ruined them.
In addition to giving the trainers to Post, the female fan had another “purpose”. The woman told him, “You’re mine (the sneakers)”. The woman said, “You get mine (sneakers). I’ll get you mine (sneakers)”, Post said, “So it’s bartering. I didn’t know that”, he took off the trainers he was wearing and gave her a word of warning: “I think these trainers probably stink”. The fans who received the trainers from Post were overjoyed and said, “I don’t care about that”. They were also very happy to have Post sign their trainers.
