Actress and TV host Drew Barrymore (48) has announced that she will be taking a break from social media over the summer.
Drew recently posted a cute black-and-white photo of herself as a child on Instagram. She then thanked her friends and followers for making “this feed a loving place” and a “safe space” like her acclaimed daytime talk show.

He added, “Being so humorous and kind. Those are two of my favorite things in this life,” she added. ‘I’m taking the summer off from social media. I used to do it all the time. And because it’s so healthy for the soul. Drew said her plans for the break include going on “some adventures.”
Drew also commented on how “we are all so lucky to be able to connect,” and finally encouraged fans to “have the summer of your life,” and revealed that she will be working on the next issue of her eponymous Drew Magazine.
Drew’s departure from Instagram and other social platforms comes after her controversial comments earlier this month about her relationship with her estranged mother.
Drew opened up about her relationship with her mother, 77, in an interview with New York magazine in June. In it, she talks about the trouble she and her mother had. She explained that her friends were jealous that she was able to work on her trauma after their mothers had passed away. ‘Their mothers all passed away and mine didn’t. So I thought, ‘I don’t have that luxury. But I couldn’t wait,'” Drew stated. ‘I don’t want to live my life wishing someone else would be gone sooner so I can grow up. I want her to be happy and healthy. But I have to grow up despite the fact that she is on this planet,” he continued. This statement received a lot of backlash because it seemed to have caused a misunderstanding that he wanted his mother to die.
