According to photos obtained by the Daily Mail, Madonna was visiting the Karl Lagerfeld exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York with one of her dancers and an assistant. Madonna was dressed casually, wearing black sweatpants, a black long-sleeved shirt, and a black baseball cap.
The outing was apparently hours before she was found unconscious at her home and transported to a New York hospital.
Commenting on Madonna’s hospitalization, Guy Oseary, Madonna’s longtime manager, said, “On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection and will be in the ICU for several days. Her health is improving, but she is still undergoing treatment. A full recovery is expected,” the statement said.
TMZ further reports that Madonna had been battling a low-grade fever for a month before she was discovered and rushed to the hospital. And Madonna claims that she ignored her symptoms and never saw a doctor because she was focused on preparing for her “Celebration” tour, which was subsequently postponed.
Sources told Page Six that Madonna had been “heavily rehearsing” and working “12-hour days” for weeks in preparation for the tour, which was scheduled to open in Vancouver, Canada, on July 15.
Since leaving the hospital, Madonna has been recuperating at home. However, sources tell TMZ that she has been vomiting “uncontrollably” and is bedridden.
