Prince Harry (38) and his wife Meghan (41) canceled a party planned for July 4, Independence Day, due to the shock of the termination of their reported $20 million contract with Spotify, a major music distribution company in the U.S., according to New Magazine.
According to New Magazine, Prince Harry and Meghan had planned to hold a large home party at their home in Montecito, California, U.S., inviting friends and others.
However, they decided to cancel the event three days ago. On Independence Day, the family was seen watching a parade near their home.
Princess Meghan had no choice but to cancel, officials said, and it was a last-minute cancellation as preparations for the party were already underway, including the building of a pavilion. Spotify had announced on June 15 that the contract would be terminated by mutual consent. However, it was reported that the contract was effectively terminated, with Spotify executives calling the couple “fraudulent,” and that the couple was unable to hide their upset, as they were also reportedly facing financial problems.
The couple has recently been in the news for a number of negative reasons, including their offer to return home with U.S. President Biden on a government plane when they attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth, who died last September, which was denied, and the mass destruction of “Spare,” Prince Harry’s memoirs published this January at a resort in Europe. The White House has not been willing to engage with the couple. The White House has reportedly been concerned that engaging with the couple would affect its relationship with the royal family, and the New York Post reports that Hollywood heavyweights such as director Steven Spielberg and big-name host Oprah Winfrey have also distanced themselves from the couple and avoided getting involved.
