U.S. actor Matt Damon, 52, revealed that he turned down a role that could have paid him as much as $250 million.
Appearing on CNN, Matt Damon confessed that he was offered the lead role in James Cameron’s film “Avatar” in 2009.
In addition to the fee, he was also offered the right to receive a percentage of the box-office revenue as compensation. It’s a terrible story,” he said self-deprecatingly.
“Avatar”, which became a phenomenal hit all over the world, was a huge success with box office revenue of nearly 2.8 billion dollars (about 392 billion yen), and the sequel “Avatar: The Way of Water” released in December last year also recorded a total of 2.3 billion dollars (about 322 billion yen) at the box office.
Matt Damon explained that he declined to appear in “Avatar” because he was starring in the “Bourne” film series, which ran from 2002 to 2016.
