Bob Dylan will tour the UK this fall for the first time in more than five years. The gigs are part of the [Rough & Rowdy Ways] World Tour, which will kick off with four shows at the 2,300-seat London Palladium on October 19, 20, 23, and 24, 2022.
Smartphones will be banned at these gigs in the UK.
The UK tour, which is scheduled for a total of nine shows, will also include stops in Cardiff, Hull, and Nottingham, and will close with two shows at Glasgow’s SEC Armadillo on October 30-31. 81-year-old Dylan has announced that he will ban smartphones at these shows in the UK, and attendees are to place their mobile devices in Yondr cases during the gigs. Tickets for the shows will go on sale July 15 local time.
Dylan’s most recent show in the UK was a co-headliner with Neil Young at London’s [BST Hyde Park] in 2019, and before that he visited the city on his Never Ending Tour in the spring of 2017.
As for Dylan, he made news last week when a new studio recording of his 1963 classic “Blowin’ in the Wind” sold for the eye-popping price of 1,482,000 pounds at Christie’s London’s “Classic Week” auction on July 7. The amount was higher than the pre-auction estimate.
The price exceeded pre-auction estimates, which initially suggested that it would sell for between 600,000 and 1,000,000 pounds. The new version of “Blowin’ in the Wind” was recorded last year using music producer T. Bourne Burnett’s patented Ionic Originals, a new disc format (made by Burnett’s new company NeoFidelity Inc.) specially The recordings were recorded in a session. According to the press release announcing the sale, the format offers better sound quality than standard vinyl records and is “foreign matter resistant, durable, has an excellent signal-to-noise ratio, longevity, and portability. The Ionic Originals discs can be played on most commercially available record players. The original studio version of “Blowin’ in the Wind” was recorded in July 1962.
