“Top Gun” Coyote is impatient with Tom Cruise’s actions

Greg Tarzan Davis, who plays Coyote in the movie “Top Gun Maverick,” shared a funny episode with his co-star Tom Cruise in an interview with ET.

Tom is known for cherishing his relationships with his co-stars, friends, and acquaintances, giving them a cake called “Cruise Cake” every year. Miles Teller, who plays Rooster, told E! News that he kept in touch with Tom regularly after filming ended and that “there were many times I asked Tom for advice on my life and career,” and that Tom was always helpful and supportive. Greg also praised Tom’s personality, saying that Tom is “the ultimate energetic guy” who always goes out of his way to support his friends and colleagues. However, because of his strong desire to “do something for the other person,” there were times when Tom took what he said in a light-hearted manner to heart and became impatient.

In a way, it’s a challenge. When you say something is ‘cool’ or ‘I want to try it’ in front of him, he is the type of person who takes it seriously. I once said to Tom, ‘It would be cool to learn to skydive,’ and his response was, ‘Oh, yeah. You think so?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, I think so. And the next day he called me and said, ‘I talked to Tom, and he said you want to learn to skydive? (laughs) I said, ‘Wait a minute! That was just a conversation starter, Tom. He didn’t mean it.

Incidentally, Gregg also co-stars with Tom in “Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One,” which is scheduled for release in 2023. Christopher McCarey, the director of “Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One,” wrote the script for “Top Gun: Maverick,” and after seeing Greg’s work in this film and liking him, McCarey called him directly and asked him to join the cast.

When I stepped onto the set of “Mission: Impossible,” I thought, ‘I can’t believe this is happening in real life. Greg said he was “thrilled” to be cast in the Mission Impossible series, “Top Gun Maverick was shot before the pandemic, but Mission Impossible was shot right in the middle of the pandemic. It was a lot of work, but we were able to go to a lot of places during the shoot. But it was a great experience to be able to go to so many different places for the shoot. I got to see the world.
