Jason Momoa plays Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which focuses on superhero movies based on DC Comics. His latest film, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” seems to have doubled his paycheck from the first film.
Jason “signed on to do a sequel as part of his first contract for Aquaman.
Jason’s Aquaman joined the DCEU in 2016 with “Batman vs Superman: Rise of Justice”. A standalone film, “Aquaman,” was then released in 2018. Directed by James Wan, it was a box office smash, grossing over $1.148 billion, making it the highest grossing film in the DCEU.

Soon after the success of the first film, it was announced that a sequel to “Aquaman” would be produced, again starring Jason and directed by Wan. Titled “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” not much is known yet, but Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will star.
In the meantime, a new report from Variety has revealed that Jason’s fee is essentially double that of the first film. For Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom he received a $15 million paycheck. His fee for the first film was apparently about $7.5 million. The report explains that he signed on to do a sequel as part of his first contract for Jason “Aquaman”. Then, after the first film was a huge success, Jason renegotiated his contract.
The plot of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is still being kept under wraps, but many fans are raising their expectations.
