Will Smith apologized on social media for slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards. Hours later, Chris Rock took the stage and responded by comparing Will to former “Death Row Records” executive Shug Knight, who is currently incarcerated.
Chris isn’t ready to talk yet.
Speaking live at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on Friday night, Chris said, “Everybody is trying to be a victim. If everyone says they’re a victim, then no one will ever hear the real victims. Even I was beaten up by Shug Smith and the next day I go to work and I have kids,” he commented.

Shug Knight founded Death Row, which has produced numerous famous rappers, including 2Pac, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg. But he was a central figure in the rapper war and has been convicted in the past for armed robbery, assault, and other felonies.
Chris took his name and responded to it as a joke. In the apology video, Will commented that Chris is not ready to talk yet, but will he and Will talk directly to each other anytime soon?
In the video, Will said, “Letting people down is my trauma. I hate to disappoint people, and it hurts me psychologically and emotionally when I feel that I have not lived up to their image and impression of me.” “The work I am trying to do is to reflect deeply and reflect without shame on myself,” he continues.
