Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes, UK), the seven-time individual champion of Formula 1, has revealed that he had to withdraw from the movie “Top Gun Maverick,” starring Tom Cruise, due to his day job. He was offered the role of the pilot.

In an interview with U.S. magazine Vanity Fair, Hamilton commented that she was a big fan of “Top Gun,” which was released in 1986, and wanted to appear in the sequel at all costs. He said that Tom Cruise once invited him to the set of the movie, which led to a friendship.

 

Hamilton said, “When I found out there was going to be a sequel, I wanted to ask him if I could appear in it. I was open to any role, including a janitor in the background,” he recalled.

 

He then revealed that he was offered the role of the pilot but had to turn it down, and expressed his regret, saying that it was the most disappointing decision he had ever made.
