Anne Heche, 53, an American actress known for her roles in “Volcano” and “Spread,” is currently in a “critical condition” after a car accident, according to sources.

She has fallen into a coma.

On August 5 local time, a blue Mini Cooper driven by Anne crashed into a house in Los Angeles. It caused a fire that severely burned Anne. Her representative explained the situation, “Immediately after the accident, Anne Hesch lost consciousness and fell into a coma,” and “She suffered serious lung damage requiring mechanical ventilation and burns requiring surgical intervention.

Page Six reports that the Los Angeles Police Department obtained a warrant to test Anne’s blood to determine if she was under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time of the accident. Police believe that Anne may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

TMZ has obtained a photo that appears to have been taken before the accident, which shows a bottle with a red cap in the cup holder of Anne’s car. According to witnesses, Ann initially crashed into the garage of a nearby apartment building, but backed up and drove away before the resident could assist her; LAPD West Traffic Division officials have confirmed that she crashed into another vehicle and then into a house that was on fire.

Photos from the scene show Anne on a stretcher with serious back injuries, and aerial photos document smoke billowing from the house she plowed into and numerous fire trucks surrounding the area.

In an interview in 2020, Anne said, “I drank. I smoked. I did drugs. I had sex with people. I did everything I could to remove the shame from my life,” and she openly stated that she had struggled with substance abuse and other problems in the past.
