The U.S. box office total for “Top Gun Maverick,” starring Tom Cruise, reached $683,375,000 as of the preliminary figures of the 21st (local time), surpassing “Avengers: Infinity War” ($678,815,482) to become the 6th highest-grossing film in the U.S. box office ($678,815,482) to reach No. 6 in the U.S. box office.
Top Gun Maverick ” kept its momentum and broke the record.
The “Top Gun” sequel, the first made in 36 years, just surpassed the final box office tally of “Titanic” ($659,363,944, approx. 89 billion yen) earlier this month. While “Avengers: Infinity War” is the heroic gathering film that sums up 10 years of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) history, “Top Gun,” now in its 13th week of release, has maintained its momentum and broken records.
It is approximately $20 million behind “Black Panther” ($742,566,566) for fifth place on the U.S. all-time list. Disney/Marvel is set to release the sequel “Black Panther/Wakanda Forever” in November, and although it is conceivable that the first film may be re-released in conjunction with the sequel, it is not impossible for “Top Gun” to surpass its box office performance.
The film has grossed over 11 billion yen at the box office in Japan. The worldwide box office has reached $1.4337 billion (189.4 billion yen).
