He gave up two runs, No. 28.

In the same game the day before he started, Ohtani won a pitcher’s duel, allowing no runs on two hits in seven innings with nine strikeouts to earn his 11th win. His strong performance continued on the hitting side as well, and in his first at-bat, he hit a high 91.7 mph four-seamer to center field on the first pitch thrown by Blue Jays starter Ross Stripling.

In his second at-bat in the third inning, he gave up his second hit, a hit that struck shortstop Bo Bichette, who was guarding second base. Soon after, Luis Renzifo, who was batting fourth, smashed a two-run shot into the right field stands to put the Angels ahead for good. They added another run in the next inning.

In the 5th inning, Ohtani faced Stripling for the third time and, hoping to win the batting title, he bunted safely on a 1-1 count. But it was a close call and he was out.

Then, in the fourth at-bat of the seventh inning, another run scored on a timely hit by Mike Trout in the second inning. With Trout on second base, Ohtani faced Tim Maiza at third. From a 2-2 count, he hit a sinker down the middle and slammed it into the opposite field into the left field stands for run number 28.

Immediately after, the Angels scored a run in the bottom of the 7th inning, but they scored again in the 8th inning to give the Angels some momentum. In the ninth inning, Trout also came through with his No. 28, scoring the eighth run of the game. In the following inning, Ohtani drew a walk in his fifth at-bat, and although he was not able to hit back-to-back home runs, he was able to create an opportunity with two outs and the bases loaded.

However, Yusei Kikuchi, who took the mound in this situation, was held in check, and the Angels were unable to score any more runs. In the bottom of the inning, Gerald Reyes hit a solo homer to George Springer in the fifth, but he managed to hold off the rest of the batters to sweep the Blue Jays for the third straight game, 8-3.
