Jane Fonda announced that she has been diagnosed with cancer.

In her post, Jane began, “Dear friends, I have something to tell you personally,” and continued, “I have been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and have started chemotherapy.

Jane then added, “This cancer is very treatable and has a survival rate of 80%. I was very lucky,” she added.

Jane also mentioned the social insurance system in the United States. I was lucky to have health insurance and to have found a good doctor and treatment,” she said, and then took issue with the “privilege” of being a celebrity to be able to do this.

Jane added, “Many families in the United States have to deal with cancer at least once in their lives. Yet, too many people do not have access to the quality medical care that I am receiving. This is not right,” she urged.

Jane also said she plans to continue working on climate change, an issue she has been passionate about.

I am currently undergoing six months of chemotherapy. It’s going well, and it’s not interfering with my work on climate change,” Jane assured, “Cancer is a teacher for me. I pay close attention to its teachings. One of the things that Gan has taught me is the importance of community. It is important to grow and deepen our own community to show that we are not alone. I am almost 85 years old, and cancer is teaching me the importance of adapting to new realities,” she urged.
