The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 11-2 on September 11 to become the first team to make the playoffs in the Major League Baseball this season.
There is still much work to be done.
The Dodgers, who advanced to the postseason for the 10th consecutive season, are 96-43 on the season and are expected to earn the No. 1 seed. They also have the magic number of 2 to win the National League West Division.
Justin Turner had a two-run homer and drove in five runs for the Dodgers, including a grand slam in the seventh inning.
Manager Dave Roberts, who leads the team, said that the 10 consecutive postseason appearances, the third-longest postseason streak of all time, was worthless, “I think it’s something that should be recognized. It’s an accomplishment. But there is still much to be done,” he commented.
Perhaps with that in mind, there were no on-field celebrations or champagne fights in the locker room.
