Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth’s beloved daughter, released a statement

Princess Anne, the eldest daughter of Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8 (local time) at Balmoral Castle, where she was resting, has released a statement after her appearance in front of the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II, a member of the British Royal Family, as she bowed in a gesture called “curtesy” brought tears to many people’s eyes.

Below is the full translation of Princess Anne’s statement.

I was fortunate to share the last 24 hours of my dearest Mother’s life. It has been an honour and a privilege to accompany her on her final journeys. Witnessing the love and respect shown by so many on these journeys has been both humbling and uplifting.

We will all share unique memories. I offer my thanks to each and every one who share our sense of loss.

We may have been reminded how much of her presence and contribution to our national identity we took for granted. I am also so grateful for the support and understanding offered to my dear brother Charles as he accepts the added responsibilities of The Monarch.

To my mother, The Queen, thank you.

Queen Elizabeth has four children, including Princess Anne, but she and her only daughter, Princess Anne, are known to have been very close, talking on the phone every day since the days of landlines. Like her brother King Charles, Princess Anne was originally staying in Scotland, and it is reported that she went to Balmoral Castle as soon as she received the news that Queen Elizabeth was not feeling well, and took care of her in her final days.

Incidentally, Queen Elizabeth’s coffin, which left Balmoral Castle in Scotland on September 11 local time, arrived at Buckingham Palace in London on the evening of September 13. Princess Anne accompanied the coffin on its return to Buckingham Palace, including its transportation by Air Force plane. The Queen’s coffin will be open to the public at Westminster Abbey until 6:30 a.m. on September 19, the day of the funeral.
