Camila Cabello, a singer who is the new coach of the popular U.S. music audition show “The Voice” (2011-), encountered an awkward situation during her appearance on the show.
I’m on stage with Sean? I thought.
The Voice begins with blind auditions, in which contestants are judged solely on the basis of their singing voice. The judges, therefore, turn their backs to the contestants at first, and when they like their voices, they turn their chairs around.
In the blind audition broadcast on September 27, when contestant Tanner Howe went on stage and tried to sing the hit song “Mercy” by singer Shawn Mendes, Camilla immediately realized that the song was by her ex-boyfriend Shawn.

Camila was then confused by the situation. Even though she was performing, she asked, “Is that Sean over there?” asked the same coaches, including Gwen Stefani. I thought, “Is that Sean on stage? I thought he was on stage,” she tweeted.
In the end, only three people except Camila turned their chairs around. Camilla candidly and honestly revealed, “I know him better than anyone else in the room,” and “Maybe the reason I didn’t turn the chairs around was because I thought you looked a little like him? She then revealed her frank and honest feelings. Apparently, Camilla was too raw to judge.
If we want everyone, including Camilla, to be judged fairly, the choice of songs may be an important factor.
